These are the words for my song "Ma' Fai'thers Ship" (c) B.Campbell
My Fai'thers Ship
My fai'ther helped to build this ship,
He built it strong, and he built it tall,
And when you walk upon her decks,
You'll feel his sweat and toil,
Steel upon steel, Wi' a platers skill,
He forged her soul, from that furnace'd glow,
So you could walk upon her decks,
Away from the grind, and poverty below.
M'e mi'ther too, helped sew these sails,
Wi' her needled thread, she stitched every row,
So you could wear yir' fancy tailes,
Wi' na' mair thought, than it takes the cock ta' crow.
M'a brothers too, came board your ship,
In uniforms, they were proud to serve,
But not for your dainty coins, to grip,
Or for your brassy medals to wear,
As for me myself, I won't sail your ship,
For it's ships like yours, that have the stench o' jail.
You can keep your raft, o' wealth and graft,
For as a free man, I will sail.
My fai'ther helped to build this ship.
He built it strong and he built it tall.
And when you walk upon her decks,
You'll feel his sweat and toil.
