About Me:
Lizzie Nunnery is a 27 year old singer songwriter. Following the release of her EP, “Hungry,” in 2008, she played a host of venues and festivals across the UK including support for J.D Souther, Little Feat, and Jim Moray. She’s made several appearances on BBC Radio including a live performance on Radio 3. Her debut album will be released by Fellside Records in January 2010.
She is also an award winning playwright, with her most recent stage play “Intemperance,” receiving a 5 star review in the Guardian. Her play with songs, “The Singer”, was broadcast on BBC Radio 4 in November 08 and she co-composed the soundtrack to her new short film to be broadcast on Channel 4 in September 2009.
"It is Lizzie’s enchanting voice that really draws you in to her sublime world; a fragile tremolo that makes you want to sit close and listen to her stories...It is the title track that impresses the most, with a catchy refrain and dark, menacing accompaniment. This track could well be one of the best songs you’ll hear all year."
Mike Wilson, Folking.com on "Hungry EP"
“Hugely impressive lyrics and delicate acoustic backing… but it's her voice that really stands out. She’s certainly a real talent, and one to watch for the future.”
Neil Pearson, Fish Records/ Shrewsbury Folk Festival
“Nu-folk with a knack for a melody and some quirky lyrics. Lizzie is unique enough to stand out from the crowd but accessible enough to get her noticed on a wider scale. Clever songs, beautifully recorded, perfectly delivered.”
Liverpool.com Magazine on “Hungry” EP
“Her voice is resolute, her guitar technique admirable and all of her songs memorable…a collection of lovely songs and a spellbinding turn on the ukulele. Very special stuff indeed.”
